Microsoft Teams is a great communication platform for regular users but mostly for enterprises. You can use it on almost any platform and soon it will also have native support for ARM devices.
Teams is not the only collaborative software out there but the problem with most of these solutions is that they are closed systems and work only if both parties use the same app.
Users have been asking for a long time for SMS integration with Teams but didn’t get any clear answer of whether they will ever see that feature.
Evolve IP builds SMS/MMS integration for Microsoft Teams
The long-awaited feature comes from Evolve IP, an old Microsoft partner that also launched a voice service for Teams last year called Voice2Teams.
According to Evolve IP, the functionality of the new SMS/MMS will integrate seamlessly with Microsoft Teams:
The short message service (SMS/MMS) / texting feature enables users to text anyone via their business phone number directly from within Microsoft Teams or via a Web browser.
Since Evolve IP’s Work Anywhere solutions, including Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, run natively on every device, employees can text from their business line regardless if they are using a personal, or company-issued, tablet, laptop/desktop or mobile device.
The new feature is also resolving a security issue for the enterprises. You no longer have employees working on their personal mobile numbers to send any information.
What are the advantages of Microsoft Teams SMS integration?
Using a secure business line inside Teams prevents any possible communication problems and you can also send data faster. And you can do that from any platform.
As convenient as it may be, businesses would prefer that their employees weren’t texting clients, prospects, and other associates about company business on personal mobile devices. Unfortunately, with the situation that most businesses are in today, that has become a mainstay for how business gets done
, said Scott Kinka, Chief Technology Officer of Evolve IP.
