Microsoft’s email service Outlook is down again on October 1, 2020. The email service is apparently broken in Asia and users are unable to access their messages. Those trying to login to Outlook are getting an error message “Something went wrong” since today morning.
While the problem with Outlook website is being reported since morning, users said that they’re still able to access the email service with Android and Windows app. The outage also affects those using Microsoft’s Office 365 productivity suite.
If you want to access your emails, you should consider using Android or Windows app, but the apps will work only if you’re already signed into the email service.
Some users are also said to be having issues when accessing their Microsoft account as the Microsoft servers are reportedly struggling to fetch the emails and other services.
“Error code 503 Unavailable,” error message shows up when accessing Outlook web. “There was an issue looking up your account. Tap Next to try again,” another message reads when users are trying to send emails using Outlook.
It’s worth noting that some Microsoft services experienced a multi-hour outage last week as well, but the issues were later resolved.
According to Outlook status page, Microsoft is currently not aware of any issues. We’ll update this article when the service is back online.

Some keyboards require you to press the keyboard key combo of Fn + F8 to toggle between the touchpad and keyboard controls.
If the aforementioned keyboard combination doesn’t work, you might want to check your manual and find the correct shortcut.
4. Re-sync keyboard and USB receiver
Try re-establishing the wireless connectivity with the USB receiver. You can do so by switching off the keyboard and/or the USB receiver if the USB receiver has a switch.
Alternatively, disconnect the receiver and insert it to a different USB port. It might also take a few minutes for the connections to stabilize, or so be patient.
After the connection is established, see if the trackpad is responding. You might also want to restart your computer as well to allow things to start afresh.

5. Verify signal interference
If the trackpad is working erratically, the cause might be a potential interference with another wireless device in the vicinity.
To minimize the interference, change the location, and see if the device is working properly. You can also disable other wireless devices and check if that helps.
6. Check with another PC
Lastly, check the keyboard by connecting to another PC. If it is still malfunctioning, the keyboard itself might be at fault. Get in touch with the manufacturer to remedy the issue.

With the latest preview update, Microsoft is rolling out multiple improvements to Windows 10, including one new feature that will help you monitor the health of your storage drives. In addition, the update also introduces improvements for Notepad and Microsoft’s Your Phone app.
Microsoft is working on a new feature for Windows 10 that will detect hardware problems for your storage drives. If hardware problems are detected, Windows 10 will notify users before drive failure and data loss.
Currently, Windows 10’s new Storage monitoring feature is limited to NVMe SSDs only. This feature won’t work if you have a device that ships with SATA SSD and HDD, at least for now.
Windows will show the above notification when you’ve issues with your storage drive or your PC is experiencing performance issues. You can view the drive health by heading to Settings > System > Storage > Manage disks and volumes.
In the modern disk management tool, you need to select Properties and see additional details for the disk.
Interestingly, Windows 10 can now also display the estimated remaining life of your storage device and this data is based on the manufacturer’s prediction of drive life. If your drive has passed the predicted drive life period, it doesn’t indicate drive failure and you can still use the storage device.
In addition, you can also view the available space, temperature of the storage hardware, and more.
Other changes
Microsoft noted that it will turn off theme syncing feature for Windows 10. As a result, you can no longer sync your theme across your devices, but the one-time download of the last desktop background will be saved to a “WallpaperBackup” folder when you set up Windows 10 on a new device.
Microsoft is also restoring Notepad’s ability to respect the restartable apps feature, which allows Windows 10 to automatically restore apps when you sign out and sign in.
For those who use Your Phone app, Microsoft is introducing a simplified settings experience that allows you to manage the app settings and multiple connected devices.

ARM-powered devices running Windows 10 are now slowly coming to the market after the tech giant announced the platform in 2017. Windows 10 on ARM is a pretty big deal and it’s basically designed for ARM-based hardware (Snapdragon), with next-generation devices from the likes of Asus, Lenovo, and HP on the way.
The first Windows 10 on ARM PCs were shipped with a long list of compatibility issues and Snapdragon 835 processor, but the latest reviews of this platform have been pretty positive.
Microsoft has been investing a lot on emulation support for Windows 10 on ARM. With emulation, you can run apps designed for other architecture, such as x86 (32-bit), but there’s a catch – x64 (64-bits) apps cannot be emulated or installed unless they’re recompiled for the ARM architecture.
With a new update arriving in November, Microsoft says you can now finally run x64-bit apps, thanks to the new emulation layer included in Windows 10 on ARM.
The new emulation update should allow you to run most of your desktop apps, but performance concerns remain.
As we mentioned above, you can currently run native ARM64 apps and x86 apps in emulation. If any developer is interested, they can still recompile the software as an ARM64 app for improved performance.
If the developers are unable to recompile their apps for Windows 10 on ARM, users can now run the x64 apps via emulation.
Any Windows 10 desktop apps will simply run via the emulator and this is good news because Snapdragon devices have become increasingly more powerful. For example, Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon chips offer better performance and the resources should be enough to smoothly emulate x64 apps.
With 64-bit emulation support, Windows 10 on ARM could finally become a viable option and you can expect more affordable devices with this OS. Unfortunately, performance concerns will remain and we don’t how well they’ll work performance on older hardware.
Microsoft will share more details during the October event where the company is expected to launch Surface Pro X and Surface Laptop Sparti.

How to set something to high priority in Task Manager on Windows 10?
1. Change priority from the Details tab
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to start Task Manager.
Go to the Details tab, right-click the desired process, and choose Set priority and select any value that you want.
When the confirmation dialog appears, select Change priority.
This is the easiest way to set priority in Task Manager, and the priority for that process will remain changed until you end the process or turn off your PC.
2. Change priority using Command Prompt
Press Windows Key + S and enter command prompt. Select Run as administrator.
When Command Prompt starts, run the following command:
wmic process where name="firefox.exe" CALL setpriority "Above normal"
Alternatively, you can set priority by using a numerical value like this:
wmic process where name="firefox.exe" CALL setpriority 32768
Keep in mind that in order for this command to work, the process needs to be running beforehand. Of course, be sure to change the process name and priority level as needed.

3. Use PowerShell
Press Windows Key + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) from the list.

In late 2018, Microsoft stunned everyone when it announced it was abandoning its EdgeHTML-based Microsoft Edge and would replace its own web rendering engine with the one that powers Chrome.
To be fair, classic Edge has a lot going for it but also a lot going against it. There are plenty of reasons for legacy Edge’s failure, but a significant one is the lack of support for add-ons and websites.
Chromium Edge, which is the default web browser on Windows 10, is a better browser with several new features. Chromium Edge recently surpassed Firefox’s popularity to become the second most popular desktop browser, but Chrome remains the most popular browser and there’s still a long way to catch Google’s browser.
This is probably the reason why Microsoft is now nagging owners of Windows 10 with banners about Edge in the hopes users will start using it as the default browser. Unlike other notifications, this new pop-up in Windows Search is nagging users to set Edge as the default browser.
As you can see in the above screenshot, the new advertisement is served in a small box at the top of the Windows Search window. The banner is being served to claim that Microsoft Edge gives you best Windows experience and privacy.
It comes with a ‘Apply’ link that you can click to set Edge as the default if you’re swayed by ads.
If you click on ‘Apply’, Windows 10 will automatically switch your default browser to Microsoft Edge without manual confirmation. During this process, taskbar or desktop will blink or refresh for a moment.
If you go to the Settings app and change it back to Chrome or Firefox, the notification will return.
If you dismiss the notification and reboot your device, the notification returns again but it disappears later, at least on our devices.
Over the weekend, we also spotted another banner in the Settings app that recommends users to start using Edge because it’s ‘built to bring you the best of the web’.
Banners aren’t annoying, but at any rate, it appears Microsoft is not yet ready to give up on its aggressive Edge marketing push.

4. Configure your SharePoint storage

Locate web.config file in the folder.
Create a copy of that file and use it as a backup in case anything goes wrong. Open the original web.config file with Notepad (or any other text editor).
In the Notepad text, locate the <httpRuntime maxRequestLength=”51200″ /> line and change it to <httpRuntime maxRequestLength=”204800″ />.
Repeat these steps for each server in SharePoint.
7. Increase the machine-level request setting
Open the SharePoint Administrative Command Prompt.
Enter the following command: %windir%system32inetsrv appcmd set config -section:requestFiltering -requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:209715200
You should receive a confirmation message after applying this command.
