The bottom line is that if you’re using Edge as your default browser, you have to fix any of these problems quickly, And today we’re going to show you exactly how.

What can I do if Microsoft Edge is not launching?

  1. Try an alternative browser
  2. Remove your browsing history and cache
  3. Disable your antivirus
  4. Use a clean boot
  5. Run the System File Checker tool
  6. Delete the user default folder
  7. Run Power shell Command
  8. Close all other Edge processes
  9. Install the latest updates
  10. Create a new user account
  11. Make changes to the Group Policy

1. Try an alternative browser

If Edge won’t load or crashes frequently, perhaps it’s time that you tried an alternative browser. You probably have to use one anyway, in search of solutions.

2. Remove your browsing history and cache

If Microsoft Edge won’t open, the problem might be caused by your browsing cache and history. To fix the problem, you need to clear your cache by using a third-party tool such as CCleaner.

CCleaner is a great tool for removing junk files, and you could also use it to remove Edge’s cache.

The basic version of the tool is free to download and use, and it can help you not only with the thorough cleaning of the OS but also with optimizing a lot of processes.

Not to mention that you can customize both the cleaning and the optimization process, depending on your needs.

To do that, simply pin Edge to your Taskbar, right-click it and choose any link. After doing that, Edge should start normally. Now you just have to clear your cache by doing the following:

3. Disable your antivirus

Antivirus tools can often interfere with your PC and cause various problems. Several users reported that Microsoft Edge won’t open due to their antivirus software. To fix the issue, we advise you to disable your antivirus and check if that solves the problem.

If not, you might have to remove your antivirus using the dedicated removal tool or an alternative uninstaller software. After the antivirus is removed, check if the issue still persists.

However, we rather advise you to switch to a different antivirus solution that won’t interfere with other processes running on your PC.

On this note, we strongly recommend BullGuard, which is currently the best antivirus option for Windows 10 home users.fix microsoft edge browser

The tool provides a triple-layer, real-time protection, scanning signatures, and all kinds of anomalies associated with malware. Any detected malware is quarantined and then neutralized before the infection can even begin.

In the latest tests, BullGuard had the lowest number of false detections of legit software (among the top antivirus programs). This means that it easily recognizes trusted applications and sites, Edge included, and won’t interfere with the program.
