OneDrive is an important part of Windows 10. Actually, it’s represented more than in any previous version of Windows.
But some sync problems with this service could appear occasionally, and in this article, you’ll show yout how to solve them.
How do I fix OneDrive sync issues?
1. Use Sync.com

2. Disable your antivirus/ firewall
Your security software (antivirus, firewall, VPN, or antimalware tools) may sometimes prevent OneDrive from syncing. Obviously, the quickest solution to fix this issue is to turn off your antivirus or firewall.
If the sync process completes successfully, you just identified the cause of this issue. Don’t forget to enable your antivirus and firewall protection as soon as you’ve synced your files.
Here’s how to check if Windows Firewall is blocking a port or program.
Antiviruses and security software, in general, tend to be overzealous and they are known to interfere with other apps’ behavior.
You might want to try out a protection software that is renowned for its intuitive AI-powered approach when it comes to distinguishing (and stopping) real threats from the programs that you actually use.
We are talking about Bullguard, of course, an award-winning antivirus that delivers next-generation triple-layered anti-malware protection.

3. Restart the OneDrive desktop app
Maybe there’s an error in the OneDrive process, so restarting the service could potentially solve the problem. Here’s how to restart the OneDrive app:
- Right-click on the OneDrive icon (a white cloud) in the taskbar
- Click Exit from the menu options.
- Go to Search, type onedrive and open OneDrive app
- Check if you’re able to sync your files again
4. Make sure your OneDrive account is connected to Windows
OneDrive won’t work if your Windows 10 system is not connected to your Microsoft Account, so in case you switched to the local account, you have to get back to Microsoft Account to make OneDrive working.
And here’s how to do that, in case you’re not sure:
- Go to Start Menu and open Settings
- Go to Accounts and then Your account
- Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead
- Follow the instructions, sign out and then sign in again to make OneDrive working

6. Additional solutions to fix OneDrive sync issues on PC
If the issue persists, there is also a series of additional troubleshooting methods that you can use to fix it. Here are our suggestions:
- Make sure that the size of the file to sync is less than 10GB. Larger files won’t sync with OneDrive. As a solution, you can use a file compression software to reduce the file size.
- Search and apply the latest Windows updates.
Another thing you should try, though it rarely resolves the OneDrive problem, is to scan for a new Windows 10 update. If there is a new pack available, download and install the update as it might fix your OneDrive issue.
Some users reported that the latest updates are troubleshooting the sync issues in Onedrive.
That’s it, we hope that at least one of the solutions listed above helped you with the syncing problem in OneDrive. If you have any comments or questions, reach for the comments section below and tell us your thoughts.
