Windows 10’s June 2020 cumulative update for version 2004 and version 1909 is plagued with yet another bug that could force you to reboot the system.
The June 2020 patch for Windows 10 is causing issues with the Local Security Authority Process, which is responsible for authenticating users in the WinLogon service.
Microsoft says that the issue with Local Security Authority Process will lead to forced reboots in Windows 10 and “your pc will automatically restart in one minute” warning will be displayed on the desktop.
“A critical system process, C:WINDOWSsystem32lsass.exe, failed with status code c0000008. The machine must now be restarted,” the error message reads, according to several users reports.
Microsoft noted that bug is hitting Windows 10 version 1809, 1903/1909 and even version 2004, which was released to the consumers on May 27.
Fortunately, the Redmond company is already working on a resolution and it plans to provide an update in an upcoming release, which could arrive as early as July 14.
If you’ve recently installed a Windows Update and it’s forcing you to reboot your system, you could try uninstalling it.
Thankfully, Microsoft makes it easy to manage and uninstall recent Windows 10 updates. To uninstall June 2020 patch and fix forced reboot issuers, follow these steps:
- Open Start menu and click the Settings cog.
- In the Settings app opens, click Update & Security.
- Click “View update history” and then “Uninstall updates” in the top-left corner.
When you click on ‘uninstall updates’, Windows will redirect you to a Control Panel window listing all the cumulative updates applied to your computer.
You can use the filter and sort the list with the most recent updates at the top. After identifying the June 2020 Patch, select the update package and click on the ‘Uninstall’ option.
At the moment, Microsoft is not aware of any workaround and you would need to remove the patch manually if you encounter system reboot warnings after login.
